All indoor public places in New York State must require everyone to wear masks or provide proof of full vaccination before entering. This is a comprehensive measure announced by the governor on Friday to curb the surge of COVID in winter that shows no signs of slowing down.

It came into effect on Monday and covers the interior space of any non-private residence.

New York, along with several states including Washington, Oregon, Illinois, New Mexico, Nevada, and Hawaii, re-implemented similar indoor mask regulations, as some parts of the country are currently struggling to deal with some of the most serious pandemic crises.

In New York, if you do not comply with the new regulations, you will be fined up to $1,000 for each violation. The local health department is required to implement these requirements, although not everyone tends to play.

This measure will be reassessed on January 15. At the same time, here are the options for the affected areas as of Monday, as well as answers to frequently asked questions from companies, customers, and employees about the new rules. Read the full text of the task.

Companies and sites that implement vaccination certification requirements can accept Excelsior Pass, Excelsior Pass Plus, SMART health cards issued outside of New York State, or CDC vaccination cards.

According to the CDC's definition of complete vaccination, full vaccination is defined as an individual more than once 14 days after the last vaccination in their initial vaccine series (14 days after the second injection of two doses of Pfizer BioNTech or Moderna vaccine; 14 days) Jensen/Johnson & Johnson vaccine).

For these purposes, the state also accepts vaccines approved by the WHO. Parents and guardians can retrieve and store Excelsior Pass and/or Excelsior Pass Plus for children or minors under legal custody.

New Yorkers can get their Excelsior Pass or Excelsior Pass Plus here. Companies and locations can download the Excelsior Pass Scanner application here-any company across the country can use it for free, and it is available in more than 10 languages.

Companies and sites that implement mask requirements must ensure that all customers aged 2 years and above always wear masks when indoors.

According to the guidance of the Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, people who have not been vaccinated are still responsible for wearing masks. According to CDC guidelines, the state’s mask requirements for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade schools, public transportation, homeless shelters, correctional facilities, nursing homes, and healthcare facilities continue to be effective.

New York State continues to strongly recommend wearing masks as an additional layer of protection in all public indoor environments, even when not needed. Children under 5 years of age who are still not eligible for vaccination must wear suitable masks.

The COVID-19 vaccine and booster doses are free and widely used throughout the state. New Yorkers can visit vaccines.gov, send the zip code to 438829, or call 1-800-232-0233 to find nearby locations.

To make an appointment at a state-operated mass vaccination site, New Yorkers can visit the Am-I-Eligible site or contact their healthcare provider, county health department, Federal Qualified Medical Center (FQHC), rural medical center, or pharmacy.
