PETALING JAYA: Executive Director Roy Ho Yew Kee stated that Komarkcorp Bhd's goal is to get 50% of its revenue from its new mask division, Komark Mask (M) Sdn Bhd.

He said that the company has been committed to increasing the contribution of the mask department to the company's revenue to 50%, with the other 50% coming from labeling and printing services.

"Currently, 70% of the company's revenue comes from the label and packaging department, while 30% comes from the mask department," he told reporters today after visiting his factory in Balakong, Selangor.

The company is expanding its Balacon factory from the current 30 production lines to 100 production lines by the end of 2022. This expansion will expand its production capacity to accommodate up to 40 mask forming machines, and it is possible to produce 40 million disposable masks per month.

Ho said that its new plant in Meru, Klang, occupies an area of ​​60,000 square feet and is about to be completed. It will only be used to produce masks under its own brand Komark Mask.

"The Meru plant will house another 70 production lines, 20 of which will be fully operational in January 2022.

“We plan to export medical-grade masks to Indonesia, Brunei, Vietnam and Thailand. The Meru factory is to facilitate the transportation of masks to Port Klang for export, while the Balakong factory will focus on producing for the local market.

"Packaging and printing services (sectors) depend on the economy. We have signed annual contracts with large companies, but we are not sure whether these contracts will be extended because many multinational companies (MNCs) that use local printing services leave Malaysia for lower operating costs Other countries," he added.

Komarkcorp Assistant General Manager Brandon Cheong said that the Balakong factory produces 150 boxes of three-layer and four-layer masks every day.

In terms of exports, he said that the company is choosing suitable business partners.

The company’s total net profit for the second quarter ended October 31, 2021 was RM107,000, which was in contrast to the net loss of RM960,000 in the same period last year. This was due to the increase in revenue from the label and packaging division as a new facial mask business unit .

Revenue for the quarter more than doubled from the previous 8.26 million ringgit to 18.16 million ringgit.
