Former President Donald Trump said Monday that his home at Mar-a-Lago had been raided by the FBI, saying that it was “under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents.”

The driver suspected of causing a fiery crash that killed five people and an 8 1/2-month-old fetus near Los Angeles has been charged with murder. Nicole Lorraine Linton of Texas also was charged Monday with vehicular manslaughter and is being held on $9 million bail. Prosecutors say her Mercedes-Benz was doing 90 mph last Thursday when it plowed into cars in an intersection in Windsor Hills, setting several on fire. A pregnant mother, her fetus, 11-month-old son and boyfriend all died in one car. If convicted of all charges, Linton could face up to 90 years to life in prison.

A Southwest Airlines flight attendant suffered a compression fracture in her back during a hard landing last month in California. Federal safety investigators say the jolt was so strong that the flight attendant thought the plane had crashed. The National Transportation Safety Board completed its investigation without saying what caused the hard larding. The safety board says none of the other 141 people on board were injured in the incident, which happened July 1 at John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana, California. The airport has a relatively short runway. The safety board has not made its documents from the investigation public.

DENVER — Backers of a ballot initiative that would have banned abortion in Colorado failed to get enough signatures by the deadline Monday, so the measure won’t be on the November ballot.

A new report says California delayed or improperly denied unemployment benefits for roughly 6 million people during the pandemic. The report released Monday by the nonpartisan Legislative Analyst's Office says the state does not prioritize getting benefits to workers quickly. The report said California is focused too much on preventing fraud instead of processing payments quickly. The Employment Development Department estimates the state paid about $20 billion in fraudulent benefits during the pandemic. Nearly all of that money came from a federal program aimed at independent contractors and the self-employed. That program has since ended.

A judge is considering whether Georgia officials should once again be prohibited from enforcing the state’s restrictive abortion law while a legal challenge against it is pending. Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney heard arguments Monday from lawyers for the state and for doctors and advocacy groups who filed a lawsuit challenging the law. He said he needed to think about the issues but that he would issue a ruling soon. The hearing focused on whether the judge has the power to block the law temporarily while the litigation plays out and whether the law was invalid from the start because it violated the U.S. Constitution and U.S. Supreme Court precedent when it was enacted.

Police have identified a fugitive accused of firing shots inside the Mall of America last week before fleeing the suburban Minneapolis shopping complex with the help of several accomplices. Bloomington police say 21-year-old Shamar Alon Lark, of Minneapolis, fired three rounds in front of a Nike store following a fight involving a half-dozen people. The shooting sent some shoppers running for cover and led officials to lock down the mall. Lark and another man accused in the shooting are being sought on suspicion of second-degree assault. Three people accused of helping the two men escape the mall in a hotel shuttle were charged Monday with aiding an offender. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Actor Ezra Miller has been charged with felony burglary in Vermont, the latest in a string of incidents involving the embattled star of “The Flash.” Vermont State Police said in a report Monday that they responded to a burglary complaint in Stamford on May 1. Police found that several bottles of alcohol were taken from a residence while the homeowners weren’t present. Police charged Miller after consulting surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses. Police said they located Miller shortly before midnight on Saturday and issued him a citation to appear in Vermont Super Court on Sept. 26 for arraignment.

Crow joined the agency in 1996 after a career in law enforcement. He helped oversee the state's return to carrying out lethal injections and was inside the death chamber for the last four executions. Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts has announced he will not call a special session of the Legislature to try to enact an abortion ban because the measure doesn’t have enough votes to break a filibuster. Ricketts is a Republican who has said he wants to ban all abortion, even in cases of rape and incest. He said in a statement Monday that he had nixed plans for a special session after learning from Speaker of the Legislature Mike Hilgers that only 30 lawmakers would support a proposal to ban abortions starting at 12 weeks of pregnancy. Thirty-three votes are needed to break a filibuster.

Cambodia’s ambassador to the United States says the return of 30 antiquities to his country by U.S. law enforcement authorities is like a returning of the souls of Cambodia's culture. Ambassador Keo Chhea made the comment at a ceremony Monday as he stood near 10th Century sculptures that are among 30 antiquities being returned to Cambodia. U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said some of the sandstone and bronze sculptures and artifacts were given up by their owners when U.S. authorities told them they were stolen. Others were claimed through court actions. Authorities said they range in age from the Bronze Age to the 12th Century.

An incident involving a white Mississippi Highway Patrol officer and three Black men is under investigation after a viral video showed the officer putting a handcuffed man into a chokehold and wrestling him into a ditch. The video shows the officer wrestling a handcuffed man to the ground on Friday in McComb. At one point the officer appears to use his knee to pin down the handcuffed man. The officer later pointed a weapon at the man's brothers as they filmed the incident. All three men were arrested. Officials say the incident is being investigated. One expert said the video displayed “Bad Policing 101.”
