South Windsor — SOUTH WINDSOR – Pathways and Blooms, South Windsor’s garden tour and plant sale, will be returning after a two-year hiatus on Sunday, June 12, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The tour will feature seven gardens (two on historic Main Street), Dzen Tree Farm, and Nowashe Village. The day will be full of ideas on how to create your own unique paradise whether starting from scratch or adding some new touches to your already established garden. Stop by the outdoor Museum of Indigenous life, Nowashe Village, to see a variety of native plants and trees.

A plant sale will also take place, with flowers, shrubs and trees available to purchase. All proceeds go toward supporting the Down to Earth Garden Club and the Friends of Wood Memorial Library & Museum.

Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 on the day of the tour. Ticket books, which include brief descriptions of the gardens, may be purchased online at www.woodmemoriallibrary.org or in person on the day of the tour.

SOUTH WINDSOR – The in-person salad luncheon and annual meeting of the Friends of the South Windsor Public Library will be held at the Wapping Community Church, 1790 Ellington Road.

The lunch will begin at noon Tuesday, June 7. Please bring a salad that will serve six, for the salad buffet. Label your dish to make it easy to identify when the event is over. The Friends will supply serving utensils. Dessert and beverage will be provided.

The guest speaker is Gabrielle Lucivero, Channel 30 Sports Reporter, who will share stories of the Olympics, the NCAA Finals, and her own figure skating career.

Please bring a face mask to wear while serving yourself at the salad buffet. There will be hand sanitizer available. If you’re concerned about buffet service, bring your own lunch instead or come at 12:45 p.m. for the annual meeting and guest speaker.

Friends’ are reminded to complete membership forms for June 1 through May 31, 2023. New memberships are also available. Membership forms are available at the South Windsor Public Library and online at the Library website. A deadline of June 3 is set for receipt of memberships at the library, to be included in the drawing for a gift certificate to a local restaurant.

SOUTH WINDSOR – The Friends of Wood Memorial Library invite back audience favorite, History at Play, for the world premiere of, Diana of LOVE™. On Friday, June 10, audiences will be treated to a new work of art researched, written, and performed by Artistic Director, J. Kalaora.

This new immersive living history experience follows Lady Diana Spencer’s life behind the scrutinized pages of worldwide headlines, pulling back the curtain to reveal a woman who gave so much to so many, while concealing her own psychological traumas and mental health struggles.

Despite this internal unrest, Spencer was a force for LOVE: for the LGBTQIA+ Community and beyond. At Play™, LLC recalls her enduring impact on the LGBTQIA+ Community during PRIDE.

SOUTH WINDSOR – The Abe E. Miller American Legion Post 133 South Windsor meets on the third Tuesday of every month at the South Windsor Community Center 150 Nevers Road, at 7 p.m. All veterans are welcome to attend and are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for the food bank.
